Everything about Gadget And The Gadgetinis totally explainedGadget and the Gadgetinis is a spinoff of the classic series Inspector Gadget developed by DiC in cooperation with SIP Animation produced from 2001-2003. There are 52 episodes.
Gadget is now a lieutenant, and a member of an organization called "WOMP" (World Organization of Mega Powers). He is aided in his work by Penny (who is now twelve years old), as well as the new robot characters Digit and Fidget, the titular Gadgetinis invented by Penny, who essentially replace Brain the dog in this series (who is supposedly retired from active duty)and Chief Quimby (who now works as an informant for the head of WOMP) has been replaced with Col. Nozzaire, a former member of the French Foreign Legion.
The original creators returned for this series - Andy Heyward was one of the executive producers, Jean Chalopin co-created the show and wrote 49 of the episodes, while Bruno Bianchi directed. It essentially follows the same plot as the original series, with the clumsy Gadget attempting to fight crime on his own, while Penny and her helpers did all the work. Doctor Claw, who in some stories was replaced by other villains - in a few cases aliens or dictators - had relatives in a few of the episodes, a move which has been criticized by some as detracting from his mystery.
While Brain and Chief Quimby are mostly absent from the show, they do appear in pictures in Gadget's house. Each also appears as a special guest, and only in one episode each. Brain appears in episode 36, No Brainer which reveals that, having been traumatized after years of pain while saving Gadget, he retired from crime-fighting to live in a riverside house. The mere mention of the word "gadget" is enough to drive him frantic. Chief Quimby appears on episode 45. Super Boss Gadget.
The end-credits showed sketches of Penny on her bicycle visiting Brain at his riverside home. The pair enjoy an emotional reunion.
Maurice LaMarche continued as Gadget's voice, reprising his role from the "Sunday Movie Toon", "Inspector Gadget's Last Case". The main title song was written and performed by Mike Piccirillo. The musical underscore composers were Mike Piccirillo and Jean-Michel Guirao.

Characters
Lt. Gadget
Now working for WOMP as a lieutenant, Gadget is still the same bumbling detective cyborg he was before, except he appears to have been "upgraded" with several new gadgets. He is often unaware of MAD interfering with missions, sometimes making it easier for them to continue with Dr. Claw's evil plans, but they're nearly always thwarted. Gadget may not be very bright, but deep down, he cares deeply about those he knows so well and will occasionally go to risky procedures to protect everyone and everything around him.
Gadget's appearance is somewhat different from his original self, as his hat and coat are now dark grey and his gloves are yellow. He is also seen wearing green sunglasses in most episodes.
The Gadgetinis - Two small robots who resemble Gadget and aid him frequently on his missions.
Fidget
Fidget is the most easily spooked of the pair and is coloured orange. He secretly wants to be a human, and often makes complaints about body parts that he doesn't technically possess, being a robot.
Digit
Digit is the smartest of the Gadgetinis and is a navy blue colour. He usually corrects Fidget about being a robot and not a human, and is often sarcastic.
Penny
Gadget's niece who is now aged 12 and creator of the Gadgetinis. Despite not always partaking in missions, she often contacts her uncle and the Gadgetinis to offer advice and information from home. She usually does this from the attic, using her computer and many other hi-tech tools.
Like her original self, Penny still wears her hair in pigtails, except a little higher and while she originally had green eyes, they're now blue. While nobody had anything against Penny's use of her gadgets in the original series, the people in this show nitpick Penny for being interested in computers (in "One Too Many Gadgets," a flight attendant takes away Penny's crime laptop, and in "Weekend At The Beach," Penny's friend Bridget criticizes Penny for "playing with computer games" when she was actually using her communication watch).
Colonel Nozzaire
Another member of WOMP from France and former member of the French Foreign Legion, Col. Nozzaire (often mistakenly pronounced "Nose-Hair" by the others) can't stand Gadget and his silliness, and constantly tries to partake in missions himself, only to get captured by MAD, badly injured or never getting to go on missions at all.
General Sir
Leader of WOMP. He is the one who assigns Gadget with missions, much to the disgust of Nozzaire.
Dr. Claw
Leader of MAD and Gadget's unseen enemy. Like the original, his hands are only shown, which are now gold with black joints and knuckles, and with the MAD logo printed on them.
